How Do I Overcome Depression ?
Depression is a very common thing these days. It’s kinda like a trend now. Everybody gets depressed at least once in a while. Some try to drown their emotions in alcohol, sex or drugs but only end up worse than they were. Many even commit suicide just cuz they can’t handle depression. But there are people who HAVE overcome this demon called depression and are leading happy lives. And they’re not supermen or superwomen. They didn’t spend thousands of dollars to do it. They didn’t use some revolutionary technique to get to where they are now. So, if they could do it, you can too. Here’s how.
What is depression?
If you ask google, depression is a feeling of severe despondency and dejection. Let me dumb that down for you.
When you’re depressed, you feel so sad, it literally feels like you’re the only live human in the world and there’s no one to understand you. It’s like being tied to rock and thrown into the ocean.
You feel extremely sad, unloved, unrecognised, put down, unworthy to live, unworthy to be loved and unwilling to do anything but sit in a corner and cry your heart out all the time. There’s always a voice in your head telling you that you’re inadequate; that you inferior to others; that you can’t succeed; that you are the reason why bad things are happening to you. All these things are experienced by every depressed person worldwide.
How Do I Overcome Depression
Here we are suggesting you some steps to make you overcome depression and these are not guaranteed steps to follow and if you are at higher level of depression then consulting a psychiatrist is advised.
Step 1: Choose not to be depressed
The first step to being happy instead or depressed all the time, is to want to be happy. It’s all about choice. The greatest power of living organisms with sane minds is choice. Choice to do right or wrong. Choice to do good or bad. It’s our choices that affect who we do. You can choose to feel bad about what someone said or you could choose to mop it under the carpet and move on. Now, experts on depression might give me a hard time and tell me depression is a real disease and a serious issue, and yada yada yada, but the fact of the matter is, it’s not that big of a deal. We make it a big deal. We choose to magnify the bad in our lives, often times forgetting all the good that we have. You might be down, but you’re still alive.
Step 2: Believe in yourself
The journey to happiness begins in your head. It’s all about confidence. What makes you think you’re less than any other human? You both breathe the same air. You’re no different from a homeless person or a billionaire. You’re capable of just as much as anyone else. So, always believe in yourself. Always say to your self; I’m awesome, I can do this. I can do anything. I am capable. I am powerful. I am beautiful. I’m intelligent. I’m capable.
Step 3: Get motivation

Many people come to god when they are depressed because god is the only hope at that time. Whatever religion you may be,Just pray to god and seek his guidance. Yes,God will help you for sure.. Be positive ..!!
Everybody has stuff they can’t talk about. Dark secrets they can’t share with others. Stuff that could change others’ perception of you. Faults that you’re scared that if others find out about, they won’t love you. That’s when God comes in. I’m a Christian, so I believe in Jesus Christ. I believe that God hears me. So I tell Him all my problems. All my secrets. In prayer. Why should I do that? Cuz that gives me a sense of relief. I feel relieved to know that someone knows my secrets and still loves me, and won’t judge me for my failings. I mean no offence to atheists but believing in God alleviates fear and responsibility. You find strength in the fact that God is taking care of you. And that you are loved, always.

Step 5: Do something you love
When we do our favourite things we forget the whole world around us. Yes,when I do my favourite things I just don’t care what’s happening around and it’s just like I will be deeply involved in that.!! Try this and It may work for you sure.
Find something you love. And do it. Just do it. Take a risk. What do you have to lose? What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. No matter how much you fail, you WILL succeed in the end, granted you keep trying. SO pick yourself up, dust your self off, and get out there. There’s a whole world of positivity out there for you.
