Android has been around for a long time. Well, actually, it feels like a long time now, but it’s only been around for a few years. And in these few years, it has literally taken over human lives. In November 2014, a survey concluded that there were 1 billion android users all over the world at that time. And android is expected to hit 6.1 billion users by 2020.  So if you’re not into it, you better start now. Now, what makes android so cool that the whole world is going nuts about it? Two words. Rooting. And Customizability. Or course Apple has its own jailbreak but it’s completely different from rooting. So, what makes it so special? Well, for starters, rooting your android phone gives you access to features and controls that your phone wouldn’t give you if it weren’t rooted. Many android developers have build upon this and come out with tons of goodies to help you root your phone in seconds. But one common myth that’s been floating around is that rooting cannot be done without a computer. That’s totally untrue. Rooting can actually be done without a computer. Before we tell you how, let’s start off with the basics.

NOTE: For the most part, rooting can be done safely. But there is still a very minute chance that it could go wrong if you don’t follow the proper procedure.

What is rooting a phone?

How to root android without PC or Computer. for phone or tablets

Rooting is a way to unlock your android phone’s software so that you can change the firmware or add more customizability. It basically opens up new possibilities for your phone which previously didn’t exist. That said, however, don’t expect hardware improvements like Apple’s 3D touch on your phone if it didn’t have 3D touch functionality in the first place because the process of rooting only affects the software and not the hardware. And rooting does void your warranty so make sure what you’re getting yourself into before you proceed with rooting your android device. But the benefits of rooting are so good that they’re totally worth voiding your warranty for. And the best part is that you can actually unroot your device in such a way that if you take the phone back to the service center, they can’t tell if your phone was rooted before. So what do you get from rooting?

Benefits of rooting your phone

Rooting has a ton of advantages and very few disadvantages. But it’s good to know both sides of the story before coming to any conclusions. How to root android without PC or Computer. for phone or tablets

  1. Complete access to all the features of the phone and complete control of all the root operations. It’s like getting administrator privileges on your computer.
  2. Root Access is another biggie. What it does is, it allows your installed apps to tap into the phone’s root features and run operations that you can’t unless it’s rooted. For example, you can overclock your GPU to make your phone run a lot faster, the downside being the fact that it gets heated up a little faster too, due to the increase in load on the GPU.
  3. No more bloatware. Most smartphones come with bloatware, Apps that cannot be uninstalled. Rooting is the only solution, Once you’re rooted, you can delete all the bloatware from your phone in a giffy.
  4. More internal memory. Usually, all your apps and their corresponding app data goes into your internal memory. Even if you have an SD card. Rooting your phone allows you to transfer all the app data to your SD card. For instance, if you install a game, the app itself could be just 50 MB while its app data could be around 1 GB. All of that can be transferred to your SD card.
  5. Custom ROMs are the biggest reason for rooting. There are tons of custom ROMs available online that can be installed in order to give your phone more features and more importantly, a new look. Disadvantages of Rooting

How to root android without PC or Computer. for phone or tablets

While rooting is great for your phone, you still can’t ignore that fact that it does have it’s quirks. You’d be wise to keep them in mind if you don’t want your phone permanently damaged .Beyond any repair. Although that’s highly unlikely.

  1. No more Warranty. This is the most fundamental fact that anyone rooting their android device for the first time should know. So, it’s best if you root your phone once your warranty expires. Although there are ways to unroot your phone and get the warranty back, this method doesn’t work for every device. So it’s worth keeping in mind the fact that you won’t get any more customer support and free damage protection when you’re getting into this.
  2. Mistakes can happen. And depending on how bad they are, they can make your phone permanently unusable. Like we said, your rooting operation won’t fail unless you get it wrong. As long as you have the right root app for your device and you follow the right set of instructions, you’ll be fine. Trying to root your device with the wrong app could brick your device but that can be recovered. Only in a few cases does the device permanently get damaged. So make sure you get it right the first time.
  3.  No more software updates. Software updates don’t really matter unless you have a nexus. Because Google releases OTA(Over-the-air) updates and frequently. So, if you’ve got a nexus, you don’t have to root it but you’ll not be losing anything if you do because some ROMs like Cyanogenmod and MIUI provide monthly updates and bug fixes. While some of them might be OTA, depending on what device you’re using, you’ll mostly end up installing them manually.
